Zelenskyy Slams West for “Zero Real Reaction” After Deadly Russian Strikes

Lviv under heaviest bombardment since start of war
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused western allies of showing “zero real reaction” to Russia’s escalating attacks, after a wave of drone and missile strikes on Sunday killed at least six people and injured 18 across the country. Lviv, a city usually considered among the safest in Ukraine, was hit by its most sustained bombardment since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Civilians among the dead, infrastructure damaged
Among the victims was a 15-year-old girl and three members of her family in the village of Lapaivka, near Lviv, whose home was destroyed. In Zaporizhzhia, one person was killed when a drone struck an apartment building. Lviv’s mayor reported power outages, large fires in an industrial park, and damage to a school, kindergarten and church. Residents were urged to stay indoors as ash and smoke covered parts of the city.

Zelenskyy calls for stronger response
In a video address, Zelenskyy said Russia was deliberately targeting energy infrastructure ahead of winter and warned that Moscow was mocking the west’s lack of decisive action. He stressed that stronger export controls were needed, pointing out that western components were found in Russian weapons. He also renewed his call for more air defence support and a no-fly zone, while EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas condemned Moscow’s strikes as “terror attacks” aimed at Ukrainian civilians.
